The European Research Council’s (ERC) mission is to encourage the highest quality research in Europe through competitive funding and to support investigator-driven frontier research across all fields, on the basis of scientific excellence. In 2017, Institut Curie has been awarded 4 ERC starting grants.
How the diversity of immune cells is produced and maintained during homeostasis and infection? To tangle this question, the team Quantitative Immuno-hematology (CNRS/UPMC/Institut Curie), leaded by Leïla Périé, combines experimental and computational approaches of single cell analysis. In particular, researchers use a lineage tracing method called cellular barcoding that tracks the descendants of individual cells. In addition, team’s research aims at developing new lineage tracing methodologies to study hematopoiesis not only in mice but also in humans.
