Invited by Geneviveve Almouzni, Prof. David Pellman, Pediactric Oncology – Cell Biology researcher at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, gave a talk at Institut Curie.
Genomic alterations have traditionally been thought of as a classic Darwinian process of gradual mutational accrual. However, recent work from us and others has defined mechanisms driving rapid genome evolution due to catastrophic cell division errors. I will describe recent progress on these processes, which include chromothripsis and chromosome breakage-fusion-bridge cycles.
